The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has confirmed Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie, PhD, as the keynote speaker for its 2026 Annual Conference, Lecture and Workshop scheduled to hold on Thursday, November 26, 2026, in Abuja.
The conference, which will take place at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, opposite CBN Headquarters, FCT Abuja, will focus on the theme, “Securing Nigeria’s 2027 Elections: The Role of Online Media in Information Integrity, Public Trust and Democratic Resilience.”
Professor Owens-Ibie is a Professor of Communication, Media and Development and a two-term former Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos.
His selection as keynote speaker underscores the importance of informed conversations around the responsibilities of the media, particularly online media practitioners, as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The conference is expected to bring together online media editors and publishers, journalists, academics, policymakers, political stakeholders and other professionals to examine the evolving role of digital media in Nigeria’s electoral process.
Discussions at the conference will focus on information integrity, public trust, responsible journalism and the contribution of online media to strengthening democratic resilience in the country.
