The Labour Party, Ward 5, Ugwunagbo LGA, Abia State, wishes to address a publication on the INEC website listing our representative, Hon. Munachim Ikechi Alozie, as the Federal House of Representatives candidate of the APP in the upcoming general elections.
Though Hon. Alozie was not favoured by the party’s consensus and subsequent affirmation, he remains a member of the Labour Party and not a member or candidate of the APP, nor a candidate for that office.
For the avoidance of doubt, Hon. Alozie’s name appears in the party’s register submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the 10th of May 2026 — the final day for the submission of party registers to INEC. There is also no record of his resignation from the Labour Party.
As a serving and experienced lawmaker, Hon. Alozie understands the legal implications of double registration. We therefore have no reason to believe he would knowingly place himself in such a position.
His registration details, including his membership card details, remain in our party’s database and in INEC’s database as a member of the Labour Party. We reiterate that our representative has at no time resigned his membership of the Labour Party.
We therefore respectfully urge the APP and INEC to refrain from circulating information that is misleading and inconsistent with the records available to the relevant authorities, and to avoid creating unnecessary confusion among the public where the facts are clear and verifiable.
Hon. Alozie’s membership records are documented, and his participation and financial records are verifiable.
