Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, has been announced as the Special Guest of Honour at the 2026 Annual Conference, Lecture and Workshop of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG).
The conference is scheduled to hold on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria Headquarters, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Themed “Securing Nigeria’s 2027 Elections: The Role of Online Media in Information Integrity, Public Trust and Democratic Resilience,” the conference will bring together online media practitioners and other stakeholders to examine the role of digital media in promoting credible information and strengthening public trust ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Oborevwori’s administration has focused its MORE Agenda on meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security. Key areas of its programme include infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth and women empowerment, and support for economic development.
The governor’s participation as Special Guest of Honour is expected to add a governance perspective to discussions around information integrity, responsible journalism, public trust and democratic resilience as Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections.
The conference is expected to provide a platform for media professionals, policymakers, academics and other stakeholders to discuss the challenges confronting online journalism, including misinformation, disinformation, professional ethics and the need for credible information in the electoral process.
The event will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development in Abuja.
