Vice President Kashim Shettima, has revealed that some people from Borno State once warned President Bola Tinubu against wearing traditional outfits he received from him during the 2023 election campaign, claiming the clothes were charmed and could lead to his death.

Shettima made the disclosure this Tuesday in Abuja while representing Tinubu at the public presentation of former Head of State Yakubu Gowon’s autobiography titled My Life of Duty and Allegiance.
According to the Shettima, Tinubu dismissed the allegation and deliberately continued wearing the outfits for an entire week to prove there was nothing mystical about them.
Shettima said the President later told him that some visitors from Borno had alleged that he could die if he kept wearing the clothes, which they claimed would pave the way for Shettima to become president.
The Vice President used the incident to lament what he described as a growing culture of suspicion in the country, while calling for greater trust and unity among Nigerians.
