Former Abia State governorship candidate and APC 2027 Senatorial Aspirant for Abia South, Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba, PhD, has stepped up her grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring her readiness to mobilize women across the senatorial district for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Nwagba made the commitment in Abuja during the APC Women Stakeholders Mobilization and Empowerment Campaign Roll-Out, themed “From Reforms to Prosperity, One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”

The programme, convened by the First Lady of Nigeria, Distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, was held on October 5, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BATICC), Abuja.

The gathering brought together APC women stakeholders and party leaders as part of efforts to strengthen women’s participation, mobilization and empowerment ahead of the 2027 elections.

Nwagba, who was the APC senatorial candidate for Abia South in the 2023 general elections and served two terms in the Abia State House of Assembly, described the initiative as a significant platform for expanding women’s involvement in political and community development.

Nwagba Highlights Tinubu Administration’s Reforms

Expressing support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Nwagba said the President had, in her assessment, pursued what she described as bold reforms since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

She pointed to the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, which she described as measures intended to reposition the Nigerian economy.

Nwagba also highlighted the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), infrastructure projects, agricultural and healthcare interventions, the new national minimum wage and social investment programmes as other initiatives of the administration.

She further commended Federal Government efforts relating to local government autonomy and security reforms, describing them as important components of efforts to strengthen governance and development at the grassroots.

On infrastructure, Nwagba cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Highway and other major road projects as examples of the administration’s infrastructure programme.

Commends First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative

Nwagba also praised the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for what she described as her support for the President and her complementary interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

She said the initiative had supported women, youths, elderly citizens and vulnerable Nigerians through empowerment programmes, scholarships, agricultural assistance and healthcare outreaches.

The former lawmaker described the First Lady as a “true mother of the nation,” emphasizing what she said was the importance of the initiative’s interventions to vulnerable groups.

Targets Stronger Women Mobilization in Abia South

Turning her attention to Abia South, Nwagba declared that she would intensify engagement with women and other stakeholders across the senatorial district ahead of the 2027 elections.

She said her commitment to the APC remained unwavering and called on women and other party stakeholders in Abia South to remain engaged with the party’s activities and the administration’s development agenda.

“I remain committed to mobilizing Abia South women for APC and for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” she stated.

Nwagba, who also serves as the South-East Coordinator of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP), urged APC members and supporters of the administration to remain united and focused as the country moves towards the 2027 general elections.

She concluded by reaffirming her loyalty to the APC and her commitment to supporting programmes and policies that, in her view, will contribute to Nigeria’s development.
