Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba, PhD, the only female aspirant who contested in the APC primary election for Abia South Senatorial District, has expressed profound appreciation to her supporters, party faithful, and stakeholders across the district for their unwavering commitment, solidarity, and steadfastness throughout the period leading to the primary election.

In a message of gratitude shortly after the primaries, Nwagba commended the resilience, dedication, and encouragement shown by her supporters, noting that their belief in her aspiration remained a source of strength and inspiration throughout the process.

She stated that her decision to contest the senatorial primary was driven not only by her experience, competence, capacity, and longstanding commitment to public service, but also by her firm belief in equity, justice, and fair representation. According to her, it is only fair and politically-expedient that Aba Federal Constituency should be given the opportunity to produce the next senator for Abia South Senatorial District.

Nwagba further maintained that her aspiration also represented a bold effort to advance inclusive leadership and create an opportunity for women to demonstrate their competence and capacity in providing effective and quality representation.

While appreciating the leadership and members of the party, she expressed reservations over the conduct and outcome of the primary exercise, noting that certain developments during the process had raised serious concerns.

She, however, assured her supporters and the public that she would, after due review, issue an official statement clearly outlining her position on the exercise and the way forward.

The former lawmaker urged her supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and steadfast, reiterating her continued commitment to the ideals of justice, equity, democratic participation, and the progress of Abia South.
