The Nigerian military has formally inaugurated a general court-martial at the Guards Brigade Scorpion Mess, Asokoro, to try officers implicated in an alleged coup plot.

The proceedings began this Friday morning under tight security, with over thirty accused officers brought to the venue to face the military tribunal.
This internal trial follows an investigation that began in October 2025, when sixteen personnel were initially arrested for alleged acts of indiscipline.
While serving officers face the court-martial behind closed doors, a Federal High Court in Abuja is simultaneously handling the trial of civilian suspects and retired personnel.
Those appearing before the civilian court, including a retired major general, have pleaded not guilty to charges involving treason and terrorism.
