Tension has reportedly gripped residents of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State following the killing of a young businessman and graduate identified as Comrade Uche Chinye, who hails from Umukalu community in Ukwa West LGA.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2026, along Umuadienwe–Owo-Ala Road in Ukwa West Local Government Area.
According to reports, the deceased was allegedly attacked and shot dead by yet-to-be-identified gunmen who later fled the scene with his motorcycle.
Sources said the victim’s lifeless body was later discovered abandoned along the road, while his motorcycle was nowhere to be found, raising suspicions that the attackers may have targeted him before making away with the bike.
The incident has reportedly sparked fear and tension across the community, with residents expressing concern over insecurity and calling for urgent intervention by security agencies.
Community members described the killing as painful and disturbing, noting that the late Comrade Uche Chinye was known as a hardworking young graduate and businessman.
Residents have appealed to security authorities to carry out a thorough investigation, identify those responsible, and strengthen security patrols across the area to prevent further attacks.
