A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and frontline governorship aspirant, Hon. Barr. Olugu Kalu Ugba, has officially picked the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the 2027 Abia State governorship election.
Ugba’s move is widely seen as a decisive step in consolidating his ambition, coming on the heels of his ongoing consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the forms, Ugba reaffirmed his commitment to offering purposeful and inclusive leadership, stressing that his vision is anchored on unity, development, and efficient governance.
“I am fully prepared for this journey. With the support of our great party and the people of Abia, we will build a state that works for us” he said.
Party insiders describe his entry into the race as a major boost for the PDP, noting his longstanding loyalty, experience in governance, and growing acceptance across the three senatorial zones.
Supporters and stakeholders who accompanied him hailed the development, expressing confidence in his capacity to secure the party’s ticket and lead the PDP to victory in 2027.
With the purchase of the nomination form, Ugba has now formally position himself to fly the PDP flag, as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the next election cycle in Abia State.
