The people of Amano Nsulu Autonomous Community in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Abia State has started the process of selecting the successor to their late Traditional Ruler, HRH Eze P. I. Ndubuisi ( Udo 1 of Amano) who passed – on 9 years ago. It will be recalled that the throne remained vacant following the sudden death of the “Eze-elect”, Nze Chinkwe Anosike from Umuodeche community after his emergence as successor to late Eze Ndubuisi.
Amano Nsulu Autonomous Community originally comprises four communities namely Ikputu, Umuezeukwu, Umuogu and Umuodeche, but Umuezeukwu and Umuogu later pulled out to have their own autonomous community called ” Eze – Ogu ” leaving Ikputu and Umuodeche in Amano.
The rules governing the selection process of the Traditional Ruler as captured in the constitution of Amano Nsulu Autonomous Community, Article 1 section 5, (i-ii) states that the “Ezeship” is democratically rotatory but must also be in strict compliant with other relevant sections of their constitution like Article 2, which states that, to become the Traditional Ruler of Amano, one must be an indigene who is above 50 years of age and must reside or agree to reside in the Community during his entire tenure as “Eze” of the Community.
It also stipulates that the person must have a means of livelihood, must be of good character and should not have a bad reputation or past records of criminal inclination, and must not be a front line politician or a registered member of any political party or a religious fanatic and must not be a full time pubic servant.
Consequently, an Electoral Committee made up of four wise men including Dr. Chinuzor Emereuwa, a renowned academia and University lecturer drilled the two contestants for the ” Ezeship” on Saturday Dec. 6, 2025. Other members of the panel include: Chief Onyeukwu Joseph; Elder Joseph Chijioke and Hon. Jude Obioma Obasi. At the end of the rigorous exercise which lasted several hours, the two contestants were cleared to stand for the main election.
Now, the battle for who will become the ” Eze-elect” for Amano Autonomous Community had shifted to the field as the two cleared contestants, namely Chief Kelechi Alwell Amajuoyi (of Isi-Ngwu Umunbada kindred in Umuodeche Village) and Chief Chinonyerem Dimgba (of Ohaukwu Umuezeukwu kindred in Umuodeche Village) will slug it out on Dec 29, 2025 by 8:00am at Ikputu Community Hall where their fate will be determined by 100 delegates selected equally from all the kindreds in the autonomous community who will vote to select the ‘Eze’
