A yet-to-be-identified woman has died after a fire engulfed a residential building along Ikpa Road in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
According to reports, the woman had accompanied a man to his residence after they reportedly met at a nightclub earlier in the night.
The fire reportedly broke out at about 5:30 a.m., rapidly consuming the building and destroying property worth millions of naira.
The man reportedly escaped unharmed, but the woman became trapped inside the building and was burnt to death before help could reach her.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident, while efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased.
