The political atmosphere in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State was charged with excitement on Friday, May 15, 2026, as renowned businessman, evangelist, philanthropist, and founder of the EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, Ambassador Emmanuel Josiah, officially declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency under the platform of the Labour Party.
The declaration, which took place at his country home in Eziama Nteghauzor, Obingwa Local Government Area, drew a large crowd of supporters, party stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, and political associations from across the three LGAs of Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa, and Ugwunagbo.
In his declaration address, Ambassador Josiah positioned his ambition as a continuation of his longstanding humanitarian work, emphasizing that his motivation was rooted in lived experience and community service rather than personal political ambition. He highlighted his upbringing marked by hardship, describing how those experiences shaped his commitment to compassion, resilience, and service to humanity.
He further outlined the interventions of his EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, which has reportedly supported communities through scholarships for students, payment of school fees, sponsorship of medical surgeries, youth and women empowerment programs, medical outreaches, provision of boreholes, and various humanitarian relief efforts across the constituency.
According to him, his decision to enter the legislative race is driven by a desire to promote inclusive governance that prioritizes young people, empowers women, supports the elderly, and ensures equitable development across all communities within the constituency.
