The political atmosphere in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State was charged with excitement on Friday, May 15, 2026, as renowned businessman, evangelist, philanthropist, and founder of the EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, Ambassador Emmanuel Josiah, officially declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency under the platform of the Labour Party.

The declaration, which took place at his country home in Eziama Nteghauzor, Obingwa Local Government Area, drew a large crowd of supporters, party stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, and political associations from across the three LGAs of Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa, and Ugwunagbo.

In his declaration address, Ambassador Josiah positioned his ambition as a continuation of his longstanding humanitarian work, emphasizing that his motivation was rooted in lived experience and community service rather than personal political ambition. He highlighted his upbringing marked by hardship, describing how those experiences shaped his commitment to compassion, resilience, and service to humanity.

He further outlined the interventions of his EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, which has reportedly supported communities through scholarships for students, payment of school fees, sponsorship of medical surgeries, youth and women empowerment programs, medical outreaches, provision of boreholes, and various humanitarian relief efforts across the constituency.
According to him, his decision to enter the legislative race is driven by a desire to promote inclusive governance that prioritizes young people, empowers women, supports the elderly, and ensures equitable development across all communities within the constituency.

He also pledged to pursue a leadership style anchored on accountability, accessibility, and people-centered representation, stressing the need for a constituency where no community is neglected and where governance is driven by service rather than self-interest.

The Labour Party in Obingwa Local Government Area threw its weight behind the aspirant, with the party chairman in Obingwa, Hon. Tony Ngwakwe, commending his grassroots engagements and consistent humanitarian interventions across communities. He noted that Josiah’s foundation has positively impacted farmers, women, children, and youths across the area, describing his transition into politics as a natural extension of his service to the people.

He expressed optimism that if given the party’s ticket, Josiah would further amplify development efforts and deliver meaningful representation at the National Assembly.
Also speaking, the Mayor of Obingwa LGA, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, described the aspirant as a young man with a proven record of community impact, adding that he would perform effectively if entrusted with the mandate to represent the constituency at the federal level.

In a brief closed-door engagement with journalists, the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, who arrived late due to other political engagements, described Josiah as a gentleman whose entry into active politics marks a significant step in his public life. He noted that the declaration had already positioned him within the political space and wished him success in his political journey.
The well-attended event featured prominent stakeholders from across the constituency, including party leaders, community representatives, and political groups from Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa, and Ugwunagbo. Dignitaries present included the Deputy Mayor of Obingwa LGA, the Secretary to the Local Government, representatives of various civic organizations such as Abia Arise, Chioma Abia, and the New Abia Movement, as well as traditional leaders, youth organizations, and community-based associations.
The declaration has further intensified early political alignments within the constituency as aspirants begin to position themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle.
