A group of local hunters who reportedly participated in the rescue of kidnapped victims in Komu, Oyo State, have allegedly been detained by the police following the operation.

The claim was made by the Director of Agidigbo FM, Dr Oriyomi Hamzat, who shared details of the incident during a broadcast.
According to Hamzat, the hunters launched a rescue mission after receiving information about the victims’ abduction by suspected kidnappers operating within the area.
He alleged that during the operation, the hunters exhausted their ammunition and subsequently dispatched some members of the team to purchase additional supplies needed to continue the mission.
However, the hunters sent to procure the ammunition were reportedly arrested by police officers shortly after obtaining the supplies.
Despite the setback, the rescue operation was said to have continued, leading to the successful recovery of the kidnapped victims.
Hamzat further claimed that after the victims were freed, members of the hunters’ group visited the police station to seek the release of their detained colleagues but were unsuccessful, as the police allegedly refused to release them.
As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the matter.
