There have been reactions following the smart and swift response by the Nigeria Police unravel the source of the mysterious fire that gutted the duplex of a former Executive Chairman of Umunneochi LGA, Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Madu on 10 April 2026. After a painstaking investigation and observation, one Ijeoma Okorie who by her comment on Facebook, suggested knowledge of the cause of the fire incident and also people behind the gory action was invited by the Police to give insight of all she knew about the incident.
However, some people who have poor knowledge of this matter jumped to her defense. Hence, against this backdrop, it feels right to acquaint her defenders with fragments of background information leading to her invitation by the Police.
First, Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Madu is away from home when he received the fire incident and the manner it happend remains a puzzle because, it was not traceable to the kitchen, candle light EEDC within the building.
Before the incident got to the knowledge of Chief Madu, it has already gone viral on many media spaces. While reacting on a facebook post on the incident, one Ijeoma Okorie was quick to conclude that the failure of Hon. Ifeanyi Madu to offset debts of those he is “owning” is the cause of the fire.
However, Chief Ifeanyi Madu is not currently living in Nigeria. Je stays in the western world where purity and integrity is constantly under scrutiny and by serious implication, it has been confirmed that Ijeoma Okorie’s social media tirade endangers Hon. Ifeanyi in his country of abode where issues of crime and criminality are not treated with kids gloves.
Thus, his only chance of disproving Ijeoma’s statement is to challenge her in the court of competent jurisdiction enroute the police invitation, hence her arrest. It’s either she makes a publication in the same medium used by her; Ijeoma Okorie or the legal route will be the end point.
The questions begging for answers are; why are her defenders that did not condemn her image-damaging comment against Chief Ifeanyi are fast to condemn Chief Ifeanyi’s reaction as he makes the needed move to put the matter in the eyes of international community in the right perspectives concerning her assertions? Two, why are her defenders so keen on his reactions and not interested in her actions that gave rise to her arrest and possible litigation?
Let’s take a historic perspective. Between 2021 and 2023, may we inform Ijeoma’s defence attorneys that, this same Ijeoma Okorie approached several people close to Chief Ifeanyi and told them that he was the reason behind his wife’s health challenge. His wife then vehemently confronted him with that accusation she got from her. Yet, Chief Ifeanyi put that matter behind him and moved on.
It is also on recorded audio that this same Ijeoma Okorie called out Hon. Chief Ifeanyi and strongly accused him of mysteriously being responsible for her partial stroke attack back then. She reported him to different key personalities in Umunneochi and requested him to undo the charm he used on her. The audio went viral, internationally and locally. His friends sent the audio to him. Chief Ifeanyi took up the matter and made moves to challenge her on that. It took the plead of the former Umunneochi LGA Chairman– Chief Ugochukwu Okpara, former Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Establishment, Pension and Training— Chidiebere Uwagwu Kalu and many other political stakeholders to stop Chief Ifeanyi from enforcing ligitations against this Ijeoma Okorie. Again, Chief Ifeanyi kept calm and overlooked that strong accusation. May we also add to your knowledge that it is verifiable that towards the end of Hon. Ifeanyi’s tenure as the Executive Chairman of Umunneochi LGA, the news of the governor’s intention to use him as a Transitional Chairman flickered in, this same Ijeoma threatened to set ablaze the local government headquarters if Chief Madu was chosen as a TC chairman. She made a voice note of her threat which was sent to Hon. Erondu Junior and to many other stakeholders. You now understand that the desire and idea of arson has been part of her wild thoughts in trying to get her pound of flesh.
In her premeditated resolve to destroy Chief Ifeanyi this time, she accused Chief Ifeanyi of “owing” people who set his building ablaze. This is to mention but a few. No one who is privy to antecedents of how far she has gone and resolved she is to drag Chief Madu in the mud of stagnation.
We are in this world and in Nigeria and we know that accused persons are not hidden from public views while their cases are pending in the police and in the court; they are arrested publicly, in most cases, media outlets make videos of them in the court and elsewhere. This matter is not different.
What Chief Ifeanyi did was to show the face of the person who alleged to know the circumstances behind the inferno in his building. He reported her to the police and the police did not hide to arrest her. Names of accused persons in Nigeria fly all over the television, radio and facebook outlets, again, why is this one different? Is it different because one Jacob is loved but Isau is hated?
We are glad that after most people who had defended her reached out to me on calls and had the chance to listen to and analyze my side of account, they felt sorry for Chief Ifeanyi, as we speak, some of them have deleted their comments.
Like we say: you don’t beat a child and tell the child not to cry; actions and reactions are equal and opposite.
Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Madu is rewriting the negative and anachronistic narratives aimed at him by Ijeoma Okorie at the professional instance of international immigration consultants, not to massage any one’s ego nor to gain cheap media popularity.
