Three people have died while four others sustained injuries in a lone truck accident along the Nnobi–Agulu–Awka Road in Anambra State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the incident this Saturday in Awka, saying the crash occurred on Friday near St. Jude Catholic Church in Adazi-Ani and involved a Mercedes-Benz commercial truck.
Speaking on the accident, the Anambra Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mrs. Bridget Asekhauno, said the truck developed a mechanical fault, caught fire, and the driver lost control before crashing into a roadside barricade and somersaulting.
The FRSC urged motorists, especially commercial vehicle operators, to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and avoid transporting flammable materials under unsafe conditions to prevent similar accidents.
