A viral video circulating on social media has drawn attention to a deadly attack in Mbodo Community, Aluu, on the outskirts of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where no fewer than three police officers were reportedly shot dead by suspected gunmen.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 11 p.m. on Monday along Redeem Road. According to information accompanying the video, the officers were on routine patrol when they came under heavy gunfire from the attackers, who allegedly killed three of them on the spot before fleeing the scene.
The footage, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, purportedly shows the aftermath of the attack and has sparked widespread concern among residents over the worsening security situation in the area. However, the authenticity of the video and the circumstances surrounding the incident have not been independently verified.
Residents said the sound of prolonged gunfire threw the community into panic, forcing many people to remain indoors, while security personnel were later deployed to the scene to evacuate the bodies of the slain officers and restore calm.
